Ensemble History

1979

Jan Votava and Jiří Lisý based brass quintet of the students of the Prague Conservatory during their studies. Quintet won first prize in the national competition “Dušeks Bertramka”.

1980

The ensemble performs under its current name PRAGUE BRASS ENSEMBLE at the world festival “Jugend Festspieltreffen“ in Bayreuth, Germany.

1985

Christmas matinée in the historical building of the National Theater.

1990

Second prize at the International competition of brass ensembles “Preis des Europa – Stadt Passau” in Germany.

1991

First CD with the Organist Aleš Bárta.

1994

Second CD with the Orchestra Virtuosi di Praga.

1995

Concerts at the World Festival “Festival Internationale di Ottoni” in Italy.

1996

Third “Christmas CD” with Evangelische Kantorei Roth and Kammerchor Roth.

1997

Concerts at the first World festival in Magdeburg.
Christmas concerts in Salzburg.

1998

Fourth “Christmas CD” with Evangelische Kantorei Roth and Kammerchor Roth.
New Year’s Eve and New Year’s concert in the Salzburg’s Mozarteum.

2000

Fifth CD “Jubilee” for the 20th anniversary of the ensemble.
Gala concert and christening of the new CD “Jubilee” for the 20th anniversary of the Ensemble.
Concerts at the World „Summer Band Festival“ on Jeju Island in South Korea.

2002

Concerts at the World „Summer Band Festival“ on Jeju Island in South Korea.

2004

Concerts at the World Festival and membership of the International Jury for Brass Instruments Competition “Summer Band Festival” on Jeju Island in South Korea.

2005

Representation of the Czech Republic at the World exhibition “EXPO 2005” in Aichi, Japan.

2006

Sixth CD “Resonance” with Korean Boys Choir “Halla Boys‘ Choir” from Jeju Island.
Gala concert with Korean Boys Choir “Halla Boys‘ Choir” from Jeju Island in the Senate of the Czech Republic Parliament.
Concert tour in South Korea (Seoul, Jinju, Jeju…). Solo concerts and concerts with Jinju Youth Chamber Orchestra and Halla Boys ‘Choir.

2010

Seventh CD “Prague Brass Ensemble” for the 30th anniversary of the Ensemble.
Gala concert for the 30th anniversary of the ensemble in the Dvořák Hall of the Rudolfinum.
Concert tour in South Korea (Suwon, Jinju, Jeju,…) with Armin Rosin (Alphorn).
Christening of the new CD for the 30th anniversary of the Ensemble.

2011

Concert tour in South Korea (Seoul, Jeonju, Yangpyung….) with Armin Rosin (Alphorn).
Christmas concert in Regensburg, Germany.
Legendary Canadian Brass trumpeter Fred Mills at our concert in Prague.

2012

New Year’s concert in Roth, Germany.
Concert tour in South Korea (Daejeon, Busan, Kyungu…).

2013

Church matinee with organist Aleš Bárta at the International Opera Festival “SMETANOVA LITOMYŠL”.
Concert at the “FESTIVAL MITTE EUROPA” in Struppen, Germany.

2015

New Year’s concert in Bayreuth, Germany.
Concert tour in South Korea (Seoul, Daejeon, Busan, Taean, Andong, Gyeongju).
Concert tour and Workshop in Germany (Roth, Marktredwitz, Wurz).

2016

„SILVESTR-GALA“ in the church of St.Peter in Kulmbach, Germany.

2017

New Year’s concert in the Castle church in Bayreuth, Germany.
Concert at the festival “Kladruby Music Summer”.

2019

Concert with the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra Mariánské lázně as part of the subscription cycle “Stars on the Palm”.
Christmas concert with members of the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra and Zuzana Kainarová in the mirror hall of the Dobříš Chateau.

2020

New Year’s concert in Germany at Fockenfeld Castle.
Opening concert to mark the 40th anniversary of Prague Brass Ensemble.
